Accountants’ Liability Practice

The lawyers in our Accountants’ Liability Practice defend accounting firms and their personnel in civil litigation matters, regulatory investigations (including inquiries by the SEC, PCAOB, and State Boards of Accountancy), and professional disciplinary actions. We also have significant experience with dispute resolution and resolving litigation matters in a cost-effective manner via arbitration and mediation.

Our Accountants’ Liability Practice is led by Richard (Rick) Breslow, who has more than 30 years of experience advising and defending accounting firms and their personnel, including more than 25 years of service in the Office of General Counsel of two different Big 4 accounting firms. In addition to our civil litigation practice, our firm also has a number of experienced attorneys who are former prosecutors and/or former SEC Enforcement personnel, who have significant experience representing clients in litigation and regulatory matters.

Our lawyers also have experience assisting accounting firms and their personnel with a wide variety of other legal, regulatory compliance, and risk management issues, including issues relating to non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, and issues involving compliance with the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and State Board of Accountancy laws and regulations, including CPA firm and individual CPA licensing.
